The Purpose of Prayer

Last night we were having Interchurch Prayer Meeting at our church(GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER) to pray for our countries...churches...family...etc...many people attended...can see that we as the people of God pray for the world in unity...even though come from different churches but we are serving the same God...

This morning I came across a passage talking about What is the purpose of prayer? Why do we pray for certain things? If we didn't think about it,or if we just said what came to mind, we would say that prayer is to get things from God...then there are some who would tell us if we name it and claim it and ask for it in the name of Jesus..like what we normally do at the end of our prayers...then God must give us...BUT...this is WRONG & NONSENSE !!!!! It distorts the purpose of prayer...
In the Bible..James warned us," You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions" (James 4:3), he was saying, "Because of your lust for pleasure, because of your obsession with self, it can even affect your prayer life!!!"

Prayer is not getting our will in heaven, prayer is getting God's will on earth...
Prayer is not trying to convince God to do what we want Him to do, prayer is a process that we go through in which we learn the will of God and live accordingly...

God wants us to get into alignment with Him and start praying for the things that will bring glory to His name...When we start praying like that, we will start seeing our prayers answered in the affirmative.
If we pray about something and yet our motive is wrong, then our prayer will not answer by God...

" What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." - James 4:1-3
